Car Hire Rome – The City

Rome is home to many world-renowned attractions, the most famous of which is the Colosseum, which was completed in 79 A.D. and hosted gladiatorial battles. Other historic attractions in the city include: the Pantheon, a temple to twelve Roman Gods; the Castel Sant’Angelo, which was originally intended to be Emperor Hadrian’s mausoleum; the site of the Circus Maximus; and the ruins of the Baths of Caracalla. You can also walk along sections of the ancient Via Appia (or Appian Way), which was constructed in order to link Rome with the city of Capua.

Another must-see attraction is the Trevi Fountain in Trevi Square. According to legend, if you stand with your back to the fountain and throw a coin over your shoulder into it, you will return to Rome.

There are many museums and galleries in Rome, including the Galleria Borghese, the Capitoline Museums, the Galleria Spada and the Keats-Shelley Memorial House. You can also explore the Vatican City, where you can see St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, the Pinacoteca (Vatican Art Gallery), the Vatican Palace and Gardens, and a number of museums.

Rome is the perfect place for anyone who loves shopping. For designer stores, head for the Via Dei Condotti or the Via del Corso. If you’re looking for a bargain, try exploring one of the city’s flea markets, such as the one held at Piazza Porto Portese on Sundays.

Car Hire Rome – Attractions in the Rome Area

Although there is plenty to see and do in Rome, there are also plenty of attractions nearby. You can head off in your rental car to Tivoli, about 30km north-east of Rome, to see the Villa Adriana (Hadrian’s Villa) and Villa d’Este, or take a trip to beautiful Lake Bracciano, which is situated about 40km north-east of Rome.

You could also break your holiday up by staying in more than one destination. You could use your rental car to drive to Pisa, for example, where you can see the famous Leaning Tower, the cathedral and many museums. Alternatively, jump into your rental car and head to Napoli (Naples) for a few days or head north to Bologna. Car Hire Rome – Low Cost Car Rental with easyCar
